Bone Hook Heru - Extra Large

Size (mm): Approximately 190 L x 42 W.  

These can only be made from the largest pieces of bone so supply is limited.

Pieces may have natural holes in the bone.

Each piece is individually carved, so variations in colour do occur.

A Heru is a traditional ornamental comb of the Māori of New Zealand.

They were carved from a solid piece of either wood or whalebone.

This item is carved from Cattle/Beef Bone

They were used by men to fasten their long hair up into top knots.

The Hook shape is good for catching good fortune and for safe travel over water.
